Ever notice how in the movies “mission” is always
“life or death” stuff?
Our Mission is to mend the broken to reach the broken.
When Adam and Even fell in the garden…they broke. We all know it whether we are Christian or not – people are messed up…”dysfunctional” would be the clinical word. And don’t forget the brokenness that is not because of our own sin…financial, physical, death of loved ones, and natural disasters. So life is spent trying to fill up or satisfy or fix or grow or escape to make the hurt of life go away. That is why Jesus came. He said He came to…
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; Isa 61:1 ESV
So the broken come to this place for salvation, healing, to find freedom…to mend. When they get here they find a community of people who are broken and mending as well.
And we welcome anyone, with any sin, any pain, any brokenness to come and find the people and the God who loves them, accepts them, and then transforms them to live a life of freedom.
Unfortunately this is where the story ends for most believers. So they never really reach that freedom.
